The Yorkton Short Film & Video Festival began in 1947 (and cheekily state that they've been exposing their shorts since 1947) making it the oldest event of its kind in the country. Participants can submit films in a variety of categories including aboriginal, animation, comedy, drama, experimental, performance and entertainment, children's production and more. The best films each year take home the coveted Golden Sheaf award.

Walk for Kids helps to raise money for Kids Help Phone, a free, 24-hour phone and web counseling service for kids. Walkers can choose from a 3-km (1.9 mi) and 6-km (3.7 mi) route from Sacred Heart High School. The event starts at 2.30pm.
